Finally home now, after a very long, though absolutely wonderful month. Was a bit hard being away from the kids, but I still had a great time. It was really nice connecting with old friends, meeting some new ones and most importantly being able to be present as a new life emerged.
Pretty sure I mentioned it but I was going to help a friend who was due to have her son Sept. 4th. Her husband is out of the country on business and not able to be there. I know women give birth all the time alone, but it still made my heart skip a few beats. Her mom is too sick to be there for her and aside from her in laws, she really has no family.
But I was there when her sweet lil pudgy man came into the world screamin his head off, lol. It was a little bittersweet for us both I think. I was there last year for her wedding, and being able to be there for the birth of a child doctors told her she'd never carry was pretty awesome.
Before he was born I got to spend some time with her and other friends though. We got her whole house ready, enough meals cooked and ready to feed an army for a month and enough other provisions that she won't have to leave the house for a couple months, lol. We went all over the place sight seeing and stuff too, which was a lot of fun. I'll have to share pics after I upload them, got some really great shots. I was more than a little surprised that she decided to come to the uproar festival with us(which was awesome, despite the fact that papa roach didn't show, due to illness, lol).
The kids had a fantastic time with my mom too. Of course I knew they would, lol.
Tomorrow we'll be starting back up with our schooling. Assuming everyone actually wakes up before noon. I'm pretty beat myself, the kids are whooped lil pups. They're all in bed now, but I have a feeling they're not getting up in the morning. They didn't today either. I got in at 5:30-ish and made it back to my mom's by 6:30-ish(thanks to a lead foot driver, lol, it should have taken at LEAST an hour and a half, to two hours, lol). But I crashed on mom's couch and slept for a few hours. The kids were still out like lights at 11 until I woke them up.
