Does anyone use Hake's Grammar and Writing? I'm thinking about changing my 6th grader's English from Seton to Hake's. I used Seton when she was in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, and I like it, but I want a book that involves more writing lessons.

I'd never heard of it until I googled it. Hake is Saxon. I haven't used it, so I can't comment on it.

I've read some reviews on it and most people seem to like the format. It is set up like Saxon Math with constant review of previous material. The negative issues in the reviews seems to be the physical quality of the book, it's printed on thin cheap paper and it's cost is higher than the Saxon Math book. I'm interested in it because it involves writing too, and no one really commented in the couple of reviews on the writing portion of the lessons.

I have no experience with it either. What about Writing Strands? Have you looked at that yet?
