Aaaaah, Sonlight....that would be the curriculum I'd choose if I could afford it! The idea of just saying, "I want first grade!" and *poof* it all comes in a box? HEAVEN!!
I'm Lisa and I've got 2 kids. Reilly is 6 and is going into first grade and Declan is 3. We'll be doing a small amount of pre-school with him this year. We're using a hodge-podge of things for first grade - Horizon's for math and Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading for...well...reading, obviously! I'm also going to do some type of grammar and spelling and have been looking for a curriculum for those. I'm leaning toward using Horizon's for those as well (Horizons is published by Alpha Omega). We'll do some small unit studies for science and history, but I'm not going to get into anything too "heavy" for those this year since we're still getting the basics down.
Anyway, I hope you'll stick around and ask lots of questions!

Welcome!!! I have been homeschool for one year, but I also taught them their preschool stuff at home. There are a lot of fun things out there to do with them. You will find many ideas in the subforums here and on the internet. I hope you enjoy it here as much as I have. It is a wonderful place for support!
