I've never gone as a participant, but I've gone as a vendor (I'm a multicultural book seller). To me, it would depend on the cost, and on whether they had workshops that interested me. I've seen some that had one or two workshops I'd like to attend, but they always had a flat fee to attend all the workshops... way too expensive! I'd rather pay for only the ones I was interested in.
I've been to the Immaculate Heart of Mary National Homeschool & Parent Conference three times in the past four years. They don't charge a fee, but they request a small donation. I took my girls one year and they loved picking out books and meeting other homeschooled kids. They have a lot of used books at very low prices.
I haven't yet. I haven't really had the need for it, but I assume it's something we'll do when the kids are older and I'll need more help with resources, curriculum, etc. I know lots of our friends who go every year. It seems to be more of a social event and a place where moms go to be able to get their hands on some curricula and go through them before spending money on them.

I went to one in the summer and found it interesting but im not sure i'll go again. They had several interesting workshops but I didnt get to attend any of them. I had an infant with me along with my 6yr old and every time I went into a workshop the baby would scream and we'd have to leave. I gave up pretty quickly since it was difficult to even get into the rooms they were so crowded.
the area where you could shop was pretty cool, but i didnt buy much. I wasnt sure what i wnated to do so it was nice to see what was out there
