Kate practices reading her
Easy Reader books at home on a regular basis but
today she was able to go over to the beginner book shelves at the Library today and pick up something she'd never seen before and was able to read almost the whole thing by herself.( She did need help with 1 or 2 words she wasn't familiar with.)
It was one of those 'Biscuit the dog' level 1 books.
She just turned six a month ago and has been so eager to be able to read independently - she's been making so much progress in just the last couple months I'm so proud of her!
It's so exciting when they get to that point where they can start to read without help.
Anyway, I just wanted to share because she was SO excited and happy that she could sit down at the Library and read something new by herself it made me so happy to see.
I have such a great love for reading that I just can't help but be excited for the world that is going to be open to her once she can read chapter books independently.
I know that's probably a bit of a ways in the future, but not too long now that things have started ' to click' for her.
I remember that moment when I was a kid! It was like a switch got turned on in my brain and all of a sudden I could read anything. Haha!
