We just finsished shcool and he was really excited because he actually read his first few words. We made these flash cards and I put out the letters a and t and he pointed to them and said... the short A sound and then poited to the t and said the T sound. He thought about it for a moment and said.... that says at. I was so proud of him. Then I put a B in front of the at and he looked at it for a moment and said the b sound... then the short a sound again and then the t sound. Thought about it for a moment and said.. "OH that says BAT!" He was soo proud of himself

We watched a movie version of The Odyssey this morning since we are studying Ancient Greece. The kids couldn't believe we were going to watch TV during school time Haha! So that was their favorite part. My daughter said her other favorite part was drawing pictures to go along with the poem they are memorizing.

He's a reader! Oh my gosh! Congratulations!

And watching tv for school...sounds like my kind of school! I love to watch tv to learn.

We took a field trip with some other moms & kids to see a live production of Charlotte's Web! It was great! The kids loved it.

Well, we didn't really have much school yesterday because Reilly was complaining that she didn't feel good yesterday morning. Declan had a stomach bug earlier on in the week, so I thought she might have gotten that. I told her she could lay on the couch and watch a movie or two (our sick day treat!) and that if she felt better later we'd do some school.
Well, as the day progressed, she acted as though she felt fine, but as soon as I suggested that she read a book, she began to say that her stomach STILL wasn't feeling good....little faker!! I think I offered a "sick day" too quickly! So, she read a book to Declan and I and then did a simple math page during Declan's nap time. But she didn't particularly enjoy any of it!

Jenn- I would have loved that! Wow! What a fun day.

Lisa - How is she feeling today? I have a little faker too!

Yesterday Remy really enjoyed finishing up some paper rings he was making. And Eli started a fall art project that he was really excited about.

Oh, she's completely fine! She was completely fine yesterday at about 12:00 when we went to the grocery store! *grumbles about kids faking illness*
The thing that I was grateful for was that I didn't have to face some of the worries that I'd have to face if she was in PS. If she was faking and I kept her home from PS, then I'd feel "bad" that she'd missed a day of school. As it was, we just made up some time in the afternoon. If she HAD been sick, and was in PS, I'd have worried about sending her and having them call me at 10:00 because she'd thrown up all over the place!! Ahhh, another joy of homeschooling!

He's been on the computer all day. DH let me sleep so I don't think they got anything done. He loves free days though.

Oh...little stinker! But hey, I remember faking illness so I could get more attention from my mom and an easy day.
