So lately we haven't been doing much planned school, just impromptu games, reading and stuff. What with being sick, (yes kids are sick again, ds has an ear infection) it being summer (well nearly!, it feels like it!) My head hasn't been in it. I'm thinking too much about dd birthday party and her upcoming first dance concert.

So this is what I have planned for her party, tell me what you think. This is the first 'real' kids party I have thrown. Ok so it's a girly, girly princess party. I'm only inviting 5 girls as that's all dd really knows, but I figure 6 is a nice manageable number. So when they arrive I put some glitter on there cheeks then show them the craft table. I have, (or will have as I haven't made them yet) silver card tiaras that they can stick, stick on jewels too. What else can I use there to decorate the tiaras?

Games- We are making a paper machete golden ball piñata. I thought inside I could tell them there is a clue to the next game. the clue being some small cardboard crowns.
-Which leads to playing pin the crown on the frog.
-I've also have pass the parcel but that doesn't seem very princess like..?
-'pass the slipper' Where one drops it and the other child races around the circle to tag them. Is there a better game to be had using a dress up princess type shoe?
-maybe pea on a spoon race

Afternoon tea, cake and any presents.

Would that fill up 2 hours? or long enough then they just play?

Any one with any brilliant ideas?

Honestly, I think it sounds like you have more than enough games to fill the two hours! I'd say go with the pinata, the "Pin the Crown on the Frog", and the craft. The craft alone will probably take half an houe, I would imagine, and eating cake and opening presents will take up probably 30 minutes. (I also love the Pea on a Spoon race!) If you have them, you could put out all her dress up clothes and let them play dress up and then do a "fashion show" or something like that.
I WANT TO COME TOO!!!! I'll even wear a sparkly crown!

Madison had a princess birthday party, and we played Princess and the Pea. I read them the book then made them all leave the room while I put out three pillows with a little "pea" under one of them. They had to guess which pillow the pea was under. They loved it and wanted to play it over and over.
Have fun!

I love it!!!!!

We have little boys so your princess party is making me drool!

My son's 8th bday party is this coming Saturday. And he is having an under water fishing party. We have some really cute stuff planned. I can't wait!

*Musical lily pads
*they fish for paper fish and the fish have something for them to do like, hop on one foot
*walk the plank like a jelly fish, fish, octopus, etc.
*"Fish" for live goldfish with a net and take that fish home. The parents are going to HATE me! But most have already said YAY!
*we are making fish out of tissue paper and the kid has to suck up the fish with a straw and then hold it to the end and dump it in a bowl.

We are decorating like we are under water and I am so excited! I love parties!
