I just want to remind all of my friends here that what you are doing with your children is a wonderful thing. It will not always be easy, and you will not always feel like you are succeeding. Just this week, with the spider deal and Patrick's b-day, we are having a difficult time getting anything done. I will still take off next week for Thanksgiving and my obsessive nature will threaten to tell me that I haven't done enough. However, when I look at all of you in your times like this, I can see the big picture and know that you are doing well...even when you feel like you aren't. This encourages me. This shows me that the big picture is what matters.
Speaking from someone who has experienced the school system, I know that the frustrations and feelings of failure that I sometimes have homeschooling is nothing compared to what I felt, and what my children felt, in the school system. When the day/week/month/year is over, it is the big picture that matters. It is what the school system sometimes misses...it is why we homeschool.
You are all winners and so are your children!!!

I truly appreciated finding this, although I don't come here often (often enough that is!). Anyway I made my husband read it. Although he is supportive - I don't think he thinks it will really work. I am trying and from what I know of the public schools - I know I can't do any worse! Thanks again for posting it.
I have been "lurking" on the Board for the last 3 months, since we started homeschooling our 4 1/2 year old son, & this is the first time I have worked up the nerve to post. Thank you so much for posting this. I know we are doing the right thing for our son & our family. And I agree, it doesn't always feel that way.
I've learned a great deal from the ladies on this board already. Thanks to you all.
