Do you consider charter schools homeschooling??? Something like www.ohva.org
as homeschooling??? I am thinking about enrolling my 5 year old.

Most homeschoolers don't consider virtual schools homeschooling because you are still beholden to the school system and the school system still gets money for your child being enrolled. I don't really care either way whether it is true homeschooling or not. I don't think I could do it because I like my autonomy too much.

Sorry its taken me this long to reply to your responses! Things have been crazy here.
Thanks for the welcome to stay! I am not sure what all I will do throughout my sons schooling but I thought this will be a start and we can see what happens this year with it.
Thanks!
Stacy

I am the same - I really like setting my own schedule and using my own curriculum. We are all accountable to someone. I think a lot of moms like the idea of a charter school because then you don't have to come up with the curriculum on your own and things are a little more guided. Whichever way suits you and your family best is great! Welcome to the group.

Stacy, I would personally consider this somewhere between homeschooling and "traditional" schooling. If this is what will work for your family, you may be able to get some of the benefits of homeschooling (positive socialization being a big one!), but still have your child enrolled in an "official" school.
