Scotty has been developmentally behind due to a speech delay when he was 2 years old. He really wasn't back on target for his age until he was 3. Now he is advanced in his speech. Go figure! LOL So, today I decided to jump on in and start school with him. I want him to catch up to his peers. He will be 4 in September. Right now, he knows all his colors, most of his body parts, can count to 10, but does not know the ABC's. So I figured that would be a good place to start. Today we started with the letter A. We had so much fun learning about A and naming all the "a" words. Scotty has never had much practice with writing, so I printed out two A worksheets and let him trace. He worked so hard for mommy and then he made some A's of his own. He was also able to pick out the blocks that had A's on them, and A's in magazines. Today, we are going to have an apple for snack and color an astronaut before supper. It seems so small, but so neat to really have a plan now! Anyway, I wanted to share some pictures of my hard working boy.

Very cute.

Can I just say that he isn't behind though. Sarah only just started learning her letters after turning 5. The main advantage of home schooling is going at your child's pace, whatever that may be. So don't worry about catching up because there is no one to catch up too.

Have you looked up in the project section? I have posted all kinds of links to preK and K sites in there.

No, but I will go there now. Thanks for the advice!!

Scotty is so ready to learn right now. He is soaking this up and loving it! He talked about his A's all day long. And he asked me if we could do school again tomorrow. He also showed me that he knows 4 letters by sight and 3 numbers if not a few more than three. I am so proud of him. It is so neat to watch his little face glow when he does well.

Oh, and I know this is off topic, but one of the things he has been delayed in is potty training! Today he stayed dry all day and I even took him around town wearing underwear with no accidents.
