Cameron's been getting Ranger Rick since January. My parents give each of their bigger grandchildren a magazine subscription for Christmas. I've read an article to Cameron here and there, but today we sat down to read and read the whole magazine cover to cover. Cameron loves it and I enjoyed it, too. I learned quite a bit about aphids and got a good laugh out of a picture of two hyena pups nursing with one laying between the mom's legs (and I think my babies nurse in odd positions!). I totally recommend this magazine for kids into animals and insects and other wild things.

OOH... I forgot about Ranger Rick! I used to read it to Robert and Raechel at the library when they were little. They have other magazines that look good, too...

Ani got Animal Baby for a year when she was a year old. She got Your Big Backyard two years ago. Last year was Discover Kids. This year she's getting Spider. Cameron got Ladybug last year. I forget the others they've gotten. We've liked all of them.

We agree with you, Alison. Highlights is great, but High Five stinks!

My mom always asks me/the kids what sounds good to them that year. I'll keep in mind that High Five is no good.

Miguel got highlights from his great grandma as a house warming gift. He has to be in the mood for us to read it but we finish it by the end of the month.

My dad & step-mother just got the boys a subscription to National Geographic Kids. They get so excited when they get a new magazine in the mail. I'll have to see about the Ranger Rick magazine. It sounds great!
