Thought I'd ask as a spin-off on the DYR thread rather than hijacking! What has happened to Saturday morning cartoons??????

We still get special Saturday only cartoons. Like TMNT and Batman.

Oh and BTW the Smurfs and Snorks can be found on tv too.

What's happening with this country?!? Really, I remember the cartoons started later and ended earlier even seven years ago. Gosh, I remember getting up when it was still dark to turn on the TV! Sat. morning was Mom's day to sleep in, and the only time we were allowed to watch a lot of TV. I remember it was cereal and TV until noon when the TV went off and we cleaned house. Oh, those were the days...

LOL! Yeah, the cartoons aren't near as good as they used to be! However, we don't have anything but basic, basic cable (channels 2-13 and all the shopping channels!) and there are some that the kids like. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, one called Fiesta Island (or something like that...I dunno, all the characters are pinatas!) Tom & Jerry, Krypto the Superdog.

I love Saturday mornings for the same reasons that you mentioned, Jennifer - we stay in our jammies until late (OK, not noon, but usually 9:30! Which is late, considering they're u p at 7!), eat breakfast at the coffee table, watch TV until our eyes are square. It's great!

Yeah, I remember getting up at the crack of dawn to watch cartoons. Looney Tunes were the best. And speaking of cartoons... anyone remember when it was COOL to have the Disney channel because your kids got to watch all of the old cute Disney- I mean WALT Disney- cartoons and then as an older kid you watched the Mickey Mouse club in the evening?

Are the old shows like Smurfs on regular channels or on cable channels? I think everything is on cable channels at some point in the day now. I never had the Disney Channel growing up. The first time I had cable was when we got married. Cable didn't reach my parents' house until last year. Now they have every channel known to man lol
