I received the sonlight curriculum catalong today and as I was browsing it, I found three early learning books I thought would be good for Scotty.

The first is the Berenstain Bears' Big Book of Science and Nature. This one is a bundle of three of their books and I have heard good things about it. Scotty LOVES bugs and nature - he loves going outside and asks tons of questions. I thought he might enjoy this. Of course I will read it to him, but it will add a little science to our counting and ABC's.

Second and third are two "Language Arts" books. An old favorite I got on Half.com for 75 cents - Dr Seuss "ABC." It thought maybe reading it daily could help him with his letter sounds. And also "First Thousand Words." If he can see words for common things and see how the letters go together, I think it may help. For $1.20, how could I say no. Shipping and all, I only spent $25 for all three books!

I have both the berenstain bears book and the dr seuss abc's! WE love them!!

DS loves to have me read the science book- its funny and its in a playful rhyme with great illustrations- it explains topics in a very easy to understand manner!!
The Dr. Seuss abc's book is very typical of seuss' writings- its funny and has a lot of nonesense things kids like- reading it daily might be tedious though!

I've heard great things about the Berenstain Bears Nature Book. There a CD-Rom that goes with Dr. Suess ABCs that I always look at every time I go to the Mac store. One of these days I might buy it.

I have the Dr Seuss ABC book, it's great. I don't think I could hack reading it every day though...think I would end up looking like the Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz at the end of it!!
