Jack just started #6 in the Magic Tree House series. He finished it in about 2 hours! I know these books are definitely (and obviously) too easy for him, but he loves them and I'm just glad he's finally excited about reading chapter books! I think when he's either gone through the whole series or gets tired of them (whichever comes first), we'll have to switch to something a little more difficult.

Well I say good for him that he's so interested in reading in the first place! I would do the same thing; wait for his interest to wane and then introduce something else a little more challenging. But we all like fluff reading every now and then, so I say let him enjoy it while he can!

I agree that we all like a little fluff now and then (is this where I should admit that I still like to read Baby-sitters Club books every once in a while?). I've found Magic Treehouse to be kind of like a gateway drug of reading for some kids. It really helps them learn to love to read especially after they get a bit too easy for them. After all, it probably feels pretty good to read a whole chapter book in just a couple of hours!

Oh he's definitely proud of himself. And I agree, the MTH series is great for beginning chapter books. Apparantly, they're pretty addictive.
