She has been walking around the house while I make dinner and clean and saying words and names and asking what letter they start with. So I say the phonics sound and ask her and most of the time I just tell her, but she has been so excited and has been going at it all day on and off until she is remembering some of them! She will ask and then suddenly say "That's D!" I am so happy with her progress! I would love to get something with music and phonics. The only one I know of is $70!

How cute! It sounds like she doesn't need anything else than what you are already doing.

Too sweet!

You could always get the Leap Frog fridge magnets set. It comes with a magnetic base that you put the magnets into and then it will sing "The "A" says aaa, the "A" says aaa, every letter makes a sound the "A" says aaa!" and so on and so forth for each of the letters.

Here's a link:

Too cute! Jared & Justin do the same. They are constantly going around asking me what letter different things start with. Most of the time I tell them the phonetic sound and then have them go through the alphabet to figure out which letter makes that sound. They get all excited when the figure it out.

Aww that is so exciting!! We have those fridge magnets and both my boys love them. They sit and play with it while I'm doing dishes or fixing our food.

We got the Letter Factory DVD as well, and within a week it clicked with Eathan and even Garrett will do some of the sounds which cracks me up. He does G, so he goes around the house going Guh Guh! It's so cute when these little ones do that!

What is the Letter Factory DVD? I want something for my DD that is either audio or visual because that is one of the best ways she learns. Is it set to music? Where do you get it and how much is it? I would rather not spend $70 on a beginning reading program. I'd like to reserve that money for my harder subjects like MUS.

I love the letter factory it goes through A-Z with tad as the letters learn there sounds. After they say there sounds theres a song that goes with it. It's kinda like music meets cartoon to learn. We bought ours for $10.

I got mine from Walmart. It was $9.84. I'm sure they have it at Target and Toys R Us as well. It is set to music and both of my boys LOVE it. I even made my SIL get it for my niece and she said they run around the house singing it to.

Letter Factory DVD That is from the LeapFrog website, but like I said you can get it cheaper.

The letter factory is a Leap Frog DVD. Our Walmart carries it and I think so does Target. Go check it out

I love, love love those leap pad dvd's. I posted recently how first the letter one really helped Sarah learn her letter sounds and now the word factory one was the motivation for her to start writing 3 letter words down.
