I am trying to decide what to do......we are technically on summer break right now. My older two are so used to that from being in PS, which is fine, and I don't mind taking the summer off. I have asked them if they wanted to go ahead and get started, just going at a slow pace for now but they really don't want to so we are just enjoying the break. My question comes with Morgan though. Since she doesn't know the "normal" school schedule, she keeps asking to start her school work. I have been putting her off but I have been thinking, maybe I should just go ahead and let her start. I mean, if she wants to learn who am I to say no, you can't learn right now. Another point is that, if I start with her now, that will give me more time to work JUST with her and possibly have her reading( she is close) by the time the big kids start back and I have to divide my time more. Would you go ahead and just start her or wait so they are all on the same schedule? I am pretty sure she is going to fly through her K curriculum and I am planning to move her right into 1st grade stuff when she does. Hmmmmm, any input?

Oh , you know me..I say go for it. We don't do any of the normal breaks here... Declan never really has taken a "break".. heck we school at 8pm on a Saturday night if he wants..lol.. Noah went back to work on MOnday and it's only taking him 45 min to do what I require..and that's only 3 days a week for the summer. His friends all get out of school at noon today , so we'll see how he does with it all once they are all home. I am betting for him though, he will just get up a bit earlier and get stuff done before they are even awake..lol

So I guess my vote is this.. let the kid learn!

This has nothing to do with the thread, but...

Every time I see your username I think of you as an alligator named Willis.

I also say go for it. My mom did summer break for awhile because her older kids who had been in school wanted it, but my little sister who had never spent a day in school always wanted to do it and my mom could work with her one on one. She wanted to read at age 4 and in 3 months of working with her, she was reading better than I was.

I say go for it, but maybe not hard and heavy at first with a rigid schedule, etc. Let her set the pace. Unless, of course, you plan to take summers off from now on.

I am a little confused. Are your older kids in ps or did you just take them out to homeschool??
