Ani completed two reading logs (8 books each) for the Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program. I made her read chapter books for that one since she was earning free books. There were 6 or 8 books at each grades 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6. She chose The Library Card and Princess Academy. They were both from the 5-6 list though the back of The Library Card says it's RL 4. She picked Princess Academy because her cousin was reading it when she was here last week. The Library Card is normally $4.99 and Princess Academy was $7.99 I think it was, so pretty nice getting them free! There were some step into reading books (an Amelia Bedelia, Berenstain Bears, a couple science ones, a sports one, one about Houdini), the first Magic Treehouse, the first Secrets of Droon, the first in a few other series, several books I've never heard of lol It was a much nicer selection than what I remember them having last year.

How do you sign up for this? I'd like more information on it.

And where do you find the reading level on the back of books?

Barnes and Noble on-line has the logs you can print out and you can also get them at any Barnes and Noble. You don't have to sign up for it, you just take in your completed log(s) (kids can do up to 2 sets of 8 and get one book per 8 books read) to the customer service desk and they trade your logs for coupons for books. Some books have the reading level printed near the bottom of the back somewhere around the ISBN block.

I saw that. But my boys are still too young. I will look into it next year if Jay is reading!

Our library gave out that sheet last week at the summer reading program. We are working on filling bryce's right now too! I didn't realize you could do two per child. COOL.

Cool. I printed out three logs for Samuel and he's already recorded the three books he has read this week. He's gonna break Barnes and Noble!!
