Happy 4th of July! {edit}
Today was our local 4th of July parade.. this is a rather large parade..we used to be nationally televised in fact. It lasted a bit over 2-2.5 hours!! We were not sure about bringing Taejan with his sensory issues though.

Here’s my crew as we head off.. we had to park abut 1/2 mile from where we sit ( my mom puts our chairs out at like 4am..lol)

We watched the 5k run. knew a lot of people in it! The Jets flynig over didn’t make Taejan spaz so we thought we maybe were going to have an easy time with him..well the 1st 1/4 of the parade he CLUNG to me..I have broken skin and bruises..lol..but once he felt comfy he was up and grooving!

here he is being a big shot in the chair

we had a Space theme this year and a lot of cool balloons.. where we sit they have to lower them to go under some power lines so we always get a great view!

This is why we had the Space theme.. Astronaut Stephanie Wilson is a local, in fact she was honored last night and my neice got to be in the paper with her!So she was our Grand Marshall this year!

Miss Ziah practicing her Parade wave..she just loved all the different girly girls like the Winter Carnival Queen etc..

My MIL stopped and of course she had my nieces with her:

Jadziah loved the Big Cannon:

This band was Taejan’s favorite!

The Curious George Balloon!

Ziah going nuts when she spots our friend Michelle who is one of the local school’s cheerleading coach.. Ziah just LOVES Cheerleaders!

Daddy with the little boys!

The Space Shuttle balloon!

Daddy and Ziah

The float that won the grand prize

The last balloon..Declan didn’t like the “big face”..lol

It just started to sprinkle when it was over so it was good timing for sure~

Wow!! Now that's a parade! Our parades are always so squatty! They didn't even have any floats this year! Very disappointing.

On July 4, 1776 the Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence thereby saying that we would no longer be subject to the English crown. Up until then we had been just a group of colonies born of English imperialism. Of course the Declaration itself didn't win our freedom, just declared our intent. We still had to fight the Revolutionary War which we won in 1783 and then we were a sovereign nation. In July 1787 the colonies, now states, ratified the Constitution.

That looks like an awesome parade Alison! Our's was just a teeny little neighborhood one, but we got to join it and get popsicles at the end!

Yup. And Canada, too. For a little country England was pretty good at taking over bigger ones!

That's true! I think even our smallest state alone would swollow England up!
