She wanted to know what she was doing for school today. I told her we are taking a break for a bit. But she asked if she could do some anyway. She is doing a bit of math now! lol!

Isn't it funny how homeschooled kids will often beg for more school when on break? And public schooled kids just can't wait to get out of school on break? Really tells you something, huh?

OK, ok, ok....what's the matter with MY child, then? When I mention school, she practically gets hives! I posted a few weeks ago about how we were riding around in the car and I tried to do some math facts and she began vibrating a bit and saying, "But we're on summer breeeaaaak!"
She's going to be REAL surprised when I break out the second half of MUS here next week!!

I wonder if I'm doing something wrong in the way I teach her during the year...

Well you do games and fun things still don't you. So maybe it's a phase. What does she dislike about 'doing school' the most? Can it be changed? Hopfuly she will like LLATL.

That is my Remy! He adores it. Eli would rather play his gameboy. I hate that thing!

I think that a lot of it may have to do with her being a very "black and white" kid and very literal. When we're on a break, we're on a BREAK because she doesn't really complain (too much) about having school when we're IN school. I just think that, in her mind, this is summer break. I've dealt with the same type of thing regarding asking her school-type questions or asking her to read something when we're not in "school time" during the school year.
School and life are very separate to her! (So my mental image of us being one of those happy homeschooling families that does spelling bee's while we drive merrily around town, running errands is blown RIGHT out of the water!!)
