Ani's been wanting to do Girl Scouts for a year now but the school-based group was definitely not positive about a homeschooled girl joining their group so we didn't do it. I finally found a group that meets at a library reasonably close to us. It's a mixed group Daisy/Brownie/Girl Scouts and all are homeschooled. So the first Thursday of September we're going to an information/get to know you meeting about it. Ani's very excited.

Cameron wants to do Cub Scouts but I don't know anywhere that does that around here. Our church starts scouts at age 8 for the boys.

I think we have to wait a year too. I was looking and Tiger Scouts starts at age 7 and we just turned 6 yesterday. Someone at Teeball said there is a church around here that takes them younger but I can't imagine that can do that if the National BS site says 7. Won't bother me at all to wait, we have so much on our schedule for now I was trying to figure out how to squeeze it in anyway.

Hi,

I just found this site as I was searching for a homeschool daisy troop for my five year old daughter. I was so excited to see that there might be one near enough to us for us to join! Can you give me more info, please? We are new to homeschooling and fairly new to VA but we are so excited to be here and to start the homeschooling and girl scout journey. Thanks and I look forward to chatting!

Rachael

Hi Heather,

Thanks for responding so quickly! We are in Warrenton, which is Fauquier County, if you aren't familiar with the name. How can a I get more info about how to get involved in the homeschool girl scout troop? I have been looking and looking for a homeschool girl scout troop and didn't know if one even existed! Glad to know there is one out there.

There is a list that comes out twice a month with some activities and classes and things in it. Send an e-mail to sharenet at att dot net to join. It's called SHARENET and comes out the 1st and 15th of the month. There is usually an ad in there that says where to e-mail to try to find a group. There's also the VAEclecticHS yahoogroup for VA homeschoolers. Someone on there might be able to point you in the direction of a homeschool girl scout troup in your area.
