Well, as some of you know, I've decided to do preschool at home with Tyrael this year. She's 3 and I know she really should just mostly be playing and such, but I want her to do some learning (in a fun way) this winter too. The winters are SOOOOOOOOOO long here and she (and I) get really bored. This will be good for me because it will force me to be more organized and it will be good for her because she will learn so much in the process. I just love the curriculum I picked out for her. Someone suggested it to me here and I think it's just great! AND, it's free! We have a weekly theme, weekly letter, weekly number, weekly nursery rhyme, read books and poems based on the theme, do fine motor skills activities, and gross motor skills activities. Also, each thing is reinforced for better learning. Once we get through 26 weeks of this, we will move on the the Letter of the Week curriculum where she will start learning letter sounds. Today we did all kinds of stuff about cows.....read a book, learned a nursery rhyme, went around the house mooing and acting like cows, colored a picture of a cow, and learned some new terms (udders, hooves, calf, bull, cow (difference between each of them). We had a lot of fun and I think Tyrael loved it. She called me "teacher" all morning long. It was hilarious! Thank you so much for suggesting this to me. It is going to be perfect for us.

I decided to peek in this forum because I decided to homeschool Jonny in preschool this year....we make too much for Headstart, and since Jonny isnt fully potty trained yet, no preschool this year. And we are ok with this. I am also doing the Letter of the Week system....I find it so fabulous! Its very well designed and easy for a 3/4 year old to get interested in. I am laughing because the very first post I read in this forum is about the same curriculum im using.....how wonderful!

BTW, we are starting in september.

Oh, how great! You'll have to let me know how it goes for you. It's still going well here. Tyrael has memorized her nursery rhyme for the week and loves reading the books most of all....well, she really likes the songs with actions too!

I have cleaned my dining room top to bottom and i have started decorating. I bought a 23 x 35 inch corkboard for the week's theme, etc instead of using a poster board. Ive printed out a bazillion things, now i have to get organized and ill be ready before september 17th gets here. Why sept 17? My good friend in Canada is starting this too with her son, who is also 3. We will be each others support!

I'm sooo excited. I keep telling Jonny hes gonna be starting school soon, and his little face lights up.
