I was just looking at the Math-U-See website yet again, and I know that when we order for the first time we'll need the Primer Teacher Pack, Primer Student Text and Starter Set of manipulatives.

How about the Skip Count and Addition Facts Songs CD, though? Is it helpful, worth the money, etc? I don't mind spending the money on if she'll enjoy it and get something out of it, it's just hard to tell based on reading a description.

Thanks!

It may be worth it, but they have changed it and it is apparently AWFUL now. I've never heard the new singing. Lisa (KarateMom) has it and then I sent her a copy of the version I have since she found the version she got to be so bad. We listen to the CD occasionally. I don't know if it helps at all. I'd probably not get it if I was deciding to get MUS again now.

That doesn't sound good. Anyone else have an opinion on the new version? Hmm, I wonder if I can find the old version on eBay or something...?

My sons and i can't stand it. We pulled out again last week and my son, yet again, begged me to turn it off.

I would say it depends on the child. My daughter likes to listen to it, but she likes anything for school that is audio/visual since that's more her learning style. I don't know if it helps her learn more, but she does ask to listen to it now and then. I would say buy it if they like that sort of thing, but if you'd rather not spend the money you wouldn't be missing much either.

I have it, I will have to pull it out and listen again. I know my first impresion was "That's corny" I didn't find it as bad as Lisa does, but not good either. I bought mine a year ago now..I think? I am guessing that is the new vertion?

Yup, I HATED it! And I've got a high tolerance for kids music and kids singing...but it was awful! The one that Heather sent to me was better, but I still don't think that it's a necessary thing.
