Well before lunch I took the kids out for a walk and had the middle 2 take pictures of a few things in the neighborhood.Once we got home we looked at them and they each picked one of the one they took and I printed it. Next came the paints. I had each kiddo look at the picture and tell me the colors they needed..we even mixed a few. Next they got to paint their own version of the picture…

Getting ready:

here’s their creations:

What a neat idea! They both did great. Declan is quite an artist, he did a great job on the head of the deer!

By the way those little spots of paint you give your kids on the plate, do they do the entire painting from that? Sarah always wants 'lots' so I put out pots of each colour. Your way looks so much tidier.

I'll tell Declan you sid that. he was rather proud..he wants to make so adjustments to it tomorrow.

And yup.. we always just use the paper plates.. if they are having a free for all painting day I give them a spot of each color.. if they wants to paint something specific then they get to tell me what colors they want..it makes it neater and less waste.

You have great little artists there, Alison!!! They both did an excellent job!!

We do the paper plate thing too. If not, Eathan would use all of the paint in one session!

Great job! I love their paintings.

Jack is supposed to do a nature walk & journal each week. You've inspired me with a great idea.

We also use paper plates with little squirts of paint. I had a bottle of red paint that lasted so long it started getting clumpy. I had to throw it out and get some fresh.
