Yesterday, I was outside scraping our screen door (for repainting) and Reilly was messing with a brick that sits up on the office porch. I had JUST told her, a few minutes earlier, that she shouldn't mess with it because it would really hurt if it fell on her foot. Well, I heard a thunk and turn around and, sure enough, she had knocked it off of the porch, right onto her toe. We headed off for the E.R. where they had to put in stitches. They also did an x-ray and found that she had cracked the very tip bone in her toe. Poor girl, I think that the worst part was getting the shots to numb her toe for the stitches. (Don't highlight the "spoiler" section if you're squeamish...it might be too much detail for you!) They had to basically stitch the meaty tip of her toe back on, replace the toenail, and stitch it into place.
She's doing OK now. It still hurts, but I just keep giving her pain medicine and she's propped up on the sofa, watching movies. I think we'll skip school today! I felt so sad for her because, when we were driving to the E.R., she was very worried that she was going to get in trouble because she had disobeyed me about playing with the brick.

So, how was everyone else's weekend?

Oh, ouch! Poor girl! That sounds utterly painful.

Let's see... Saturday was exhausting with Cameron's birthday parties and Sunday we got accosted by the nasty neighbor accusing my children of vandalism. Interesting weekend for us, too.

Ouch!! Poor Reilly! I hope she feels better soon! That's gotta hurt!

Our weekend was ok. Saturday we had soccer games in the morning & then came home for lunch and just lazed around alot of the day. I had to make my step-mother's 50th birthday cake in the evening.
Sunday we went to my dad & step-mother's for her 50th birthday. We had a good little visit & I think it meant alot to her.

She's doing much better today. Yesterday she realized that it didn't kill her to hobble around on her foot, so we're not having to carry her to the bathroom and stuff like that. We did let her sleep with me again last night, not really because I think she needed to but simply to show her extra TLC. I think she'll move back into her room tonight, though.
I've not changed the bandage yet today, but it looked OK yesterday...well, as OK as something really gross can look! I had completely taken Monday and Tuesday off of school and she got to watch movies all day long, but we did do some school this morning while she sat on the sofa. Then our neighbors came over and she played with Alana for a long time. So everything is doing pretty well!
