So, I'm going to trying to hit all the points of what happen because to be honest Friday was a very long & upsetting day for us...

I'll start with towards the end of October both my boys go the flu & completely flipped their sleeping schedules around on me... And I've been having a terrible time getting it flipped back this time... So this is why they were up at 4am that morning...

Anywho, we finally switch Aedan's crib into a toddler bed now; on the account that we were finally able to pad the boys bedroom/toyroom since we live in a finished basement, to save money for now (long story about that)... So we just the room finished up & took pictures, then let the boys play themselves out for a nap... Well Aedan decided to take his diaper off (he decided he wanted to take a break from potty training, *sigh*) & ended up going poop... When I realized that this had happen I immediately started to clean it up & get another diaper for him... And thought he would be funny by climbing into his brother's playyard; but when he was getting out since he still had no diaper on pinched himself down below scaring him & causing him to fall to the ground... He must have either hit his elbow on the wheel or straightened his arm out when he fell, screaming bloody murder... I found Aedan, he was layflat on his back with his clavicle dislocated making his arm look like it was dangling out of socket... I picked him up rushing him to DH & we hear a popping sound (which was the clavicle going back into place... Then we started to notice that Aedan's elbow was swelling up very fast... Right then I decide he needed to go to the ER, DH stayed home with Gage; while my Mom & Sister helped me take Aedan to the hospital...

When we got there, the staff got us in pretty fast... But when I was explaining what happened the nurse kept intrupting me & changing things around saying I was holding him by the arm... Calling it nursemaid's elbow, & I had to explain the incident about 4 times before she finally understood & at that point the doctor was starting to examine Aedan... He ordered pain medicine & x-rays of his shoulder... When all was said & done with that he came back to say eveything was looking fine... I asked him to take a deeper look at Aedan's elbow cause to me something was extremely wrong with it, as soon as he looked at Aedan's arm he asked us to stay longer & to wait for the day shift of radiologist so there were a fresh pair of eyes on to look at the x-rays to see if he missed something then about 15 minutes before they came in he ordered more x-rays & a stronger pain medcine... With the next set of x-rays were of Aedan's complete spine, shoulder, & whole right arm... They let Aedan look at his x-ray photos & when we were waiting to make sure we didn't need to take anymore slide; the to tech got very quiet when talking about 2 if the slides of his elbow making me very concerned & that's when they decided to take us back to our rooms... When the dayshift doctor came in he had a picture of Aedan's elbow & said that he Aedan has a Supracondylar Fracture, which is where there are various brakes in the bone were offset... They put a splint on Aedan's arm & told us to call to make an appointment with the Orthopedic Clinic at Children's Mercy Hospital in downtown KCMO for later that day or Monday & get a cast for his arm... While they were splinting Aedan's arm my Mom called to schedule the appointment for me & thankfully got him in that day before lunch at 10:30am...

We left the ER dropped Aedan's prescription off, went & got Gage (because DH was waiting for a call from a new job that he is suppose to be starting)... DH would have been there with us but based off the fact that we need a steady income we decided it would be wise to have him worry about the job... And then we were off to the CMH aafter dropping my sister off at school...

When we got to the hospital Aedan was paassed out cold & was a sleep the entire time we were waiting (which turned into an hour before they got us in)... They decided to do more x-rays of Aedan's arm... And when they came back to talk to us another doctor was with them... She introduced herself as Dr. Jarka & continued to tell us that Aedan is going to need surgery later that day... Showed us then new x-rays showing us that the 2 small brakes the ER were talking about where actually one brake & Aedan was going to need surgery to have it put back into place & have 2 rods place into the bone so it can heal together...

So, Aedan was given a new splint & we were sent off to the Same Day Surgery waiting room to get Aedan checked in... We were told it would be about 3-3:30pm before Aedan would go into the OR, & Dr. Jarka had 2 patients before him so it depended on what happened to them... While we waited spoke with the anesthesiologist, got into his gown & slippers, watched Mary Poppins... And at 4pm Aedan started to throw a massive temper tantrum, because it had been 2 hours after his medicine had worn off & he hadn't eatin since about 4am that morning making his stomach very sore... It took us about 15 minutes to get him to come down... I ended up asking him if he wanted to eat, when Aedan said yes, that's when I go the idea to tell him we had to wait for the lady that was going to take us to go eat... He calmed right down & started to play with the magnidoddle they gave him... I'm telling you I've never seen my son so angry & violent before...

When the nurse came to get Aedan, we said our good-byes & I let Aedan know that she was going to take him to get his lunch gave him a hug & kiss & watched them take him down the hall to the OR... Listening to Aedan just chatting away with his nurse Summer... That was at about 4:30pm a little over an hour later the Dr. Jarka came down to talk with us about the surgery giving us pictures of the steps they took for his arm to be back in the right place... And it should be another 30 minutes or so before Aedan is able to be seen from recovery... Knowing the family history of course we had to wait an hour before we were able to come see him...

His recovery nurse Autumn (go figure the nurses he had were Summer & Autumn), told us that he did beautifully through the whole surgery & he only cried once when one of the monitors started to go off on a beeping rampage (the IV bag was getting to low)... They let us get him ready to leave gave us a shirt and we were realised... I had promised Aedan that he could watch the trains before we left... Aedan got to push the button about 8 times before we told him it was time to go...

We didn't get home until 7:30pm, making for an extremely long day...

So this is Aedan's bed that we started the morning out getting set up...

This picture was taken of Aedan 20 minutes before our exploration started that day...

Aedan with the splint from the ER...

Playing with brother (new splint) in the waiting room for SDS...

The x-Ray from the ER... (the pen lines point to were the brakes are)

The x-Ray from CMH... (the pen shows where everything is suppose to be)

The next few photos show the process of getting Aedan's arm back into its proper position... (pen marks are were things should be & were they cut off the pins)

The little jelly ball is suppose to be intersecting with the line of the bone & it doesn't (before they fixed it)...

They have it lined up & the pins have put into place...

Shows where the break in his arm was & where the pins were trimmed off...

In the Recovery Room...

Mommy getting to see him as he was still waking up...

Watching the train go around the track...

Both my boys in their wagons in the elevator on the way down to the car...

Getting to see Daddy finally...

Aedan & his Froggy with their Green Dino Casts on (Aedan thinks they're Dragons)...

Apparently, he never learned his lesson...

They let Aedan keep his doughnut pillow; & he found a new use for it since he can't hold onto his hello cup the pillow can for him...

Right now, all I know is we go back to get an x-Ray on Friday to make sure everything is still alined properly... And then at 3 weeks we go back to get the pins removed... But the information they gave me said a elbow fracture can take 4-12 weeks to heal... We were also told he will possile have to go to physical therapy as well...

It is a bad break they told us that there are 8 types of fractures that can accure in the elbow & the one that Aedan has is the most common to require surgery everytime... And we were smart to ask to get in for Friday cause if could have been worse by Monday...
