When I was at the hospital after I had my son they offered the tetanus and petussis or something like that shot. Have any of you gotten this shot? I opted out mainly cuz I didn't want a shot at that time

I would guess it was tetanus and they like adults to have them every 10 years. it protects you from nasty injury infections.

i declined as well for the same reason. those things HURT!

You'd just been through labor and childbirth and couldn't bear a shot afterward? LOL

I got a MMR before leaving the hospital last time because mine wore off sometime between my 2005 baby and my 2008 baby. The nurse was warning me that these sting and I was like "Um hello? I just delivered a nearly 9 pounder, I think I can take it." This reminds me though, I think its been nearly ten years since my last tetanus shot, I'm probably due.

Shots aren't a big deal to me, I'd get one if offered and beneficial. I didn't even feel the sting they said I would from my rhogam. I haven't been offered any recently, but all my shots are up to date as of 2001.

My 3yr old son Landan died 23hrs after being diagnosed with Meningococcal Meningitis. It is a potentially vaccine preventable disease. The vaccine isn't on the schedule until 11-12yrs but is approved for use at age 2yrs. Our second son received the vaccine in December 2010 when he was 2yrs old. My son & thousands of other children prove that a vaccine is needed at a younger age.
