I recently started working with a non-vaxing family. I don't have children at the moment, but I do realize the risk this could have on my future children. What if one of the kids in this family gets something my children are too young to be vaccinated for? The pay is great, and I don't really want to give it up (can't afford too at the moment!) I had planned on having my titers checked and getting boosters if possible (I'm allergic to latex which I know is in some vaccines) but will this even be enough? Even with being fully vaxed myself, will my children still be at risk if they aren't around the other kids?

I think you should just protect yourself & future children the best you can! I doubt you will change anyones mind that's already made up about not vaccinating. Hopefully the "trend" dies out & people start vaccinating again. Good luck & keep us posted. What ideas did you have in mind?

My 3yr old son Landan died 23hrs after being diagnosed with Meningococcal Meningitis. It is a potentially vaccine preventable disease. The vaccine isn't on the schedule until 11-12yrs but is approved for use at age 2yrs. Our second son received the vaccine in December 2010 when he was 2yrs old. My son & thousands of other children prove that a vaccine is needed at a younger age.

I would definitely get my titers checked and get boosters. I'd also be a little extra dilligent about hand washing and avoiding touching my mouth and face.
