Hi everyone. I was researching whether or not to get the flu and/or swine flu vax this year when I discovered that the anti-thyroid medication I am on lowers your immune system and you are not supposed to get any kind of vaccines while taking it. Neither my OB, my perinatologist, nor my endocrinologist had ever told me that. So, if you or your child is taking any kind of prescription medication, please check to make sure it is ok before vaccinating.

Thanks for the tip, something not everyone might think of!
I did have that concern when Kate was taking prednizone (sp) for her eczema (it got pretty bad) and did ask her pedi, because I read that one of the side effects of the steroid is it can make you more vulnerable to infections (she did end up with a UTI) and he said to get them, especially because of that factor and her age.
