The Other Vaccines You Probably Need - WSJ.com

Quote:
As the push gets under way to immunize Americans against swine flu and the seasonal flu, infectious-disease experts warn that many adults haven't received vaccinations for at least half a dozen other preventable diseases—some of which could put people who get influenza at even greater risk for complications and death.

My 3yr old son Landan died 23hrs after being diagnosed with Meningococcal Meningitis. It is a potentially vaccine preventable disease. The vaccine isn't on the schedule until 11-12yrs but is approved for use at age 2yrs. Our second son received the vaccine in December 2010 when he was 2yrs old. My son & thousands of other children prove that a vaccine is needed at a younger age.

Hmmm, something I never thought of.
I know I have every vaccine recommended, because when I immigrated to the US 8 years ago I had to get ALL of my shots all over again, as if I was completely unvaccinated. So I'm good

Being active duty military I have more than most people my age including small pox vaccine which is not routinely given anymore to kids. I do not have the anthrax vaccine though and glad of that. I have many others though and they keep us up to date.

Thanks for posting, its a good reminder. I don't think a lot of adults are aware that they need boosters too.
