After the H1N1 scare will you be getting the flu shot this year? I know it will have the H1N1 strain in it.

My 3yr old son Landan died 23hrs after being diagnosed with Meningococcal Meningitis. It is a potentially vaccine preventable disease. The vaccine isn't on the schedule until 11-12yrs but is approved for use at age 2yrs. Our second son received the vaccine in December 2010 when he was 2yrs old. My son & thousands of other children prove that a vaccine is needed at a younger age.

We will get the flu shots... I am not sure if we will give it to our son. I guess we will ask his doctor for advice. Ultimately we chose to vaccinate on schedule and I think that was the right move.

Probably.

DH and I finally just got our H1N1 shots last Saturday because they were being offered through his work for free. Not sure why it took so long for them to get it (they usually offer us free seasonal flu shots as well, if they have enough supply for all 3000 employees and their spouses) but I guess better late than never!

I have no reason to fear the seasonal flu shot just because the h1n1 strain will be added. They say it would have been added to this year's flu shot anyway if we hadn't had the massive breakout.
