The U.S. Court of Federal Claims today reaffirmed the science and issued a decision that thimerosal-containing vaccines (TCVs) do not cause autism. The decision was based on three test cases who alleged that TCVs triggered autism in their children. After a thorough and exhaustive review of the science, the judges, referred to as special masters, decided, “The overall weight of the evidence is overwhelmingly contrary to the petitioners’ causation theories.”

This decision marks the end of the Omnibus Autism Proceeding. As you may know, last February, the vaccine court ruled that TCVs, in combination with the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, do not cause autism. They also decided that the MMR vaccine alone theory was not viable, and threw out those cases. Today, the TCV alone theory was also disproven. Once again, life-saving vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective.

My 3yr old son Landan died 23hrs after being diagnosed with Meningococcal Meningitis. It is a potentially vaccine preventable disease. The vaccine isn't on the schedule until 11-12yrs but is approved for use at age 2yrs. Our second son received the vaccine in December 2010 when he was 2yrs old. My son & thousands of other children prove that a vaccine is needed at a younger age.
