Which misconception about not vaccinating upsets you most, and why?

For me, its the misconception that we are getting our information from "anti-vax" propaganda. While there are definitely some hokey, scaremongering sites out there (and others that you have to really sift through to find verifiable facts), I personally rely on the CDC's own information (like the Pink Book and the MMWR), as well as legitimate medical journals... and just happen to walk away with a different conclusion on vaccinations.

Oh, and the misconception that I don't vaccinate because of autism. While I do believe there are still too any unanswered questions to rule out the possible link, my decision is based on the conclusion that that vaccines have not proven themselves to be safe enough or effective enough for me to trust in them for my children.

the misconception that my child WILL get the diseases because she's not vaccinated. What about the kids who are vaccinated and get the diseases anyway?? Do people even consider these things?!?

The misconception that I dont vaccinate cause of Autism and cause of my career (I work with children that have autism) I choose not to vax long before I started my job. That I dont vaccinate cause I am some *crunchy going with the new fangled thing of going against what dr.s say and thinking they are wacko and out to get us* (yes..that is a direct quote. I do NOT feel that vax cause Autism..but I do agree that shots should NOT be one size fits all. I get angry at that. I get angry when ppl think I hate dr's cause I dont...honestly they are doing what they are taught IMO.

Wow, those are some good misconceptions!! Some of my favorites as well! I also hate the misconception that unvaccinated children are disease-carrying parasites and vaccinated kids are uber healthy and never get anyone sick. So not true.

My most hated one is that my unvaxed kid is carrying all these horrible diseases AND SO will make your vaxed kid deathly ill.

Um, hello, isn't that why you got vaccinated? I could walk past you with a full-blown case of measles and you shouldn't catch it.

And as for the idea that I'm making the "too young to be vaxed yet" more susceptible, I disagree, because of the fact that vaxed kids CAN contract and carry VPD's. They also shed the viruses (at least the live virus vaxes), so if you get a 15-month-old just vaxed with MMR around my 6-month-old never going to be vaxed, who should be more worried?
