After You Vaccinate

Whenever you choose to vaccinate, be on the lookout for adverse reactions. Monitor your child closely 72 hours after vaccination for unusual symptoms or behavior changes, which may indicate a vaccine reaction is occurring. Vaccine reactions have been known to occur as long as four weeks after vaccination.

A vaccine reaction may include one or more of the following symptoms:

Pronounced swelling, redness, heat or hardness at the site of the injection;
Body rash or hives;
Shock/collapse;
High pitched screaming or persistent crying for hours;
Extreme sleepiness or long periods of unresponsiveness;
High fever (over 103 F)
Twitching or jerking of the body, arm, leg or head;
Crossing of eyes;
Weakness or paralysis of any part of the body;
Loss of eye contact or awareness or social withdrawal;
Loss of ability to roll over, sit up or stand up;
Vision or hearing loss;
Restlessness, hyperactivity or inability to concentrate;
Sleep disturbances that change wake/sleep pattern;
Head banging or onset of repetitive movements (flapping, rubbing, rocking, spinning);
Joint pain;
Muscle weakness;
Disabling fatigue;
Loss of memory;
Onset of chronic ear or respiratory infections;
Violent or persistent diarrhea or chronic constipation;
Breathing problems (asthma);
Excessive bleeding (thrombocytopenia) or anemia.

If you observe any of these symptoms -- or any other symptom that causes you concern -- get medical help right away.

If your child experiences serious health problems following vaccination, ask your doctor to report it to federal health authorities. Your doctor is required by law to report adverse reactions to vaccination within 30 days of vaccination. You may also report serious health problems following vaccination to the government yourself. Your doctor, nurse, or health department can report a serious health problem following vaccination by filing a Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) form. You can also file a vaccine adverse report yourself at VAERS - The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System or by calling 1-800-822-7967.

You may also make a report to NVIC's Vaccine Reaction Registry, operated since 1982. To report a reaction, click here

If your child is injured, you may be entitled to compensation under the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986. Contact the National Vaccine Information Center injury compensation for assistance.

I guess my daughter had more symptoms then I thought, her eyes crossed but we thought she was just figuring out things..maybe it was from the vaccine. Our son never did that but he never got any vaccines.
