It's been forever since I visited this board, but here I am with some questions!

We delay vaccines and had planned on doing so until 2. My oldest is now over 2 1/2 and still has none, but it is time to start. We have no final decisions on what she will get, but we have a consult with her new doctor next week to discuss this with him. He is a conventional doctor but open to anything and welcomes parent participation, which I love. We had been seeing a Holistic MD for her but recently switched because she just isn't the warmest person and my daughter would scream anytime she tried to do anything to her.

we are not going to rush what we do get but will space them way out. I am really leaning towards pertussis....thought this was available in single dose? I have read so much yet still feel clueless. I do think the doctor will be open to ordering single doses if we request it.

my major question is what is available in single doses that is normally given as a combo shot?

I am pretty certain that Pertussis is only available as DTaP. I only know that because I was thinking of only getting DS the T portion and was unable to do so. I think the MMR is available separately (back by popular demand in Canada I think lol).

It's been a while since I've looked into doing them separately so hopefully someone with recent knowledge can chime in!

MMR is no longer available in the states separate. There is no "just P" of the DTAP. IMO though...If you were interested in the DT part of it you could talk about getting just that combo, minus the P...the P part is what causes so many problems (for the most part...I'm not a fan of any of them) but anyway....THe most risky time for the P part is when they are ages 2-4 months supposedly...your child is well past that...if it were me I'd feel better knowing she could get natural immunity to it and is to an age where she'll be fine.

Welcome back to CNTV, though...I hope others can chime in...it all comes down to what YOU want for your kiddo...HUGS

We aren't to give a baby milk, berries, or peanut butter. We are to introduce new foods one at a time. But it's OK to inject several viruses, bacteria, aluminum, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, animal serum, mercury, squalene and more into an 8 week old? I don't think so.
In order to be healthy it is an unfortunate fact that people must be allowed the opportunity to be ill. I trust my body and those of my children to work correctly against the relatively benign diseases they vax for, and do not trust the ingredients in the vaccinations.
Our choice to not vax isn't based in ignorance, poverty, conspiracy theory and rumor. It's research, common sense, fact and evidence based..something the medical community has largely forgot about.

There are very few single ones and a lot of the single ones you probably do not need for her anyways based on her age (rotovirus, etc).

this sucks. I do understand that the riskiest time is past for her, but still, I would rather be able to get her the shot. Not a combo though! I do have a 3 1/2 month old and worry about her. Cadie goes to the gym playroom sometimes. I do plan on getting the booster myself very soon. Can I get it in mercury free if my doctor is willing to order it for me?

Just so you know...even if you all have the P part of the shot....it's still able to be carried in your body and passed on as if you had it the "normal" way....so your three month old would still be "at risk" this way....

Obviously you have to do what you have to do to make it work for your family...I guess I just kind of think that it's better to be naturally immune than to depend on boosters....And I'd rather know if this cough was whooping cough rather than the "light immunized" version...so that I'm careful who I'm around and such...if that makes sense...

You have time to figure it out. YAY for you for waiting until your child is older and has a better immune system to handle it. Now the HARD part of coming up with a plan!

OH and go to dr.tenpenney's site she has a comparison chart....let me see if I can find it...

There ARE merc free versions...but they are a toss up with other stuff.
