So, for the third time this season, i was coming down with a cold, again, ***? I had not been sick for 6 or 7 years. must be the sleep deprivation. Anywho, i called my girlfriend who is a master herbalist and asked if i could take herbs while bfing and she said no, but gave me a home remedy to try and by golly, i never got the cold, since Wed i have had some post nasal drip and a sore throat, but nothing worse!!!

You take one onion, cut in half, peel off the outer layer, put in a pot, cover with water, bring to boil and simmer. Then drink the water. It was not the yummiest thing ever, but tolerable. I drank 1/2 at night Wed and 1/2 in the morning, and survived!!!! Thought I would share

We aren't to give a baby milk, berries, or peanut butter. We are to introduce new foods one at a time. But it's OK to inject several viruses, bacteria, aluminum, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, animal serum, mercury, squalene and more into an 8 week old? I don't think so.
In order to be healthy it is an unfortunate fact that people must be allowed the opportunity to be ill. I trust my body and those of my children to work correctly against the relatively benign diseases they vax for, and do not trust the ingredients in the vaccinations.
Our choice to not vax isn't based in ignorance, poverty, conspiracy theory and rumor. It's research, common sense, fact and evidence based..something the medical community has largely forgot about.

How long do you let it simmer? Also, you think it's OK for pregnant women too? I would think so since it's just onion and water. I feel a cold coming on and think I might try it.

Thanks for sharing Meredith!

Now that you mention it, I think I recall someone mentioning onion tea as a cold remedy in the past! TFS

Ok... so I told my DH (who seems to be coming down a cold/sore throat) that Onions were really great for natural healing... I said I could make him an onion broth but instead he's sitting on the couch eating an ENTIRE raw onion like an apple. I guess we'll see if it works!

Ok, so what he thought was almost definitely the beginnings of Strep (he gets it at least once a year), seems to be a very very mild cold now. A little congestion and head ache. No more sore throat! And he's generally so much less whiny and "sick". It's only been a day, but then he only just started feeling yucky yesterday.

I've also heard that garlic is a great prevention/treatment for colds. One clove a day - crush it and boil it with water, then drinnk the "tea" and eat the garlic. Not the tastiest, but it seems to be working for us so far!
