It was done with my three, but I've heard all kinds of nasty things about it since then and I believe Lili suffered a clogged tear duct because of it. Thankfully, that went away on it's own, but the infections it caused were not fun at all! If we had another one I wouldn't allow it. I had c-sections anyway and I never understood why they used it on them.

I had olive at a birth center and she had NOTHING but vit K ORAL drops....the others had the erythromiacin (spell) put on their eyes...I had no idea I could tell them not to do it....scary thing is Josh is severely allergic to that antibiotic and we probably should have avoided it just in case....

We aren't to give a baby milk, berries, or peanut butter. We are to introduce new foods one at a time. But it's OK to inject several viruses, bacteria, aluminum, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, animal serum, mercury, squalene and more into an 8 week old? I don't think so.
In order to be healthy it is an unfortunate fact that people must be allowed the opportunity to be ill. I trust my body and those of my children to work correctly against the relatively benign diseases they vax for, and do not trust the ingredients in the vaccinations.
Our choice to not vax isn't based in ignorance, poverty, conspiracy theory and rumor. It's research, common sense, fact and evidence based..something the medical community has largely forgot about.

OK...so after reading the article....

We delayed cord clamping with Olive and will with this one but with the others we were in the hospital and it was cut asap after birth....and in fact a friend of mine who recently was going to have her fifth homebirth ended up in a transfer and she had to keep telling them no not yet ont he cord cutting...they were like "can we now" "can we now" etc....she had to tell them to wait wait wait....which if the info is well documented why haven't THEY read it...grr....anyway....

Ours had the antibiotic eye ointment not silver nitrate...whew....

We also skipped bathing Olive for the first 24 hours.....

I enjoyed our "mostly hands off" experience much more....I felt better knowing what little Olive COULD see (since their vision isn't the best at first) she could see me when we nursed and such...where with the ointment it's like being blind I'm sure. Eek.

Anyway...I could go on and on...that is a very interesting article....Thanks for sharing...wish I'd read that with my first lol....
