I know many of you use supplements in order to boost immune systems in your household. Well I need to do that! LOL! I feel really stupid now, but I've never given my kids Vit. D drops or anything. I want to start now. My baby is almost 16 months old, Bella is almost 4, and Tyrael is 7. Should I just use the drops for Eli? How much now that he's older and not exclusively bfing? What about the other two? Do I just need to find some chewable Vit. D pills for them? Links would be so helpful! I'm a visual learner.

On mercola's site it says 35iu per pound of body weight. so 350 per 10 pounds. And then 2500 for over 5. 5000 for adults.

I use drops...We go pretty much by the above. My older two get 2500. My 5.5 year old gets a little less...and my 3 year old gets 4 drops. We are using vit D drops that have 10,000 per 1ml and it's only marked in quarter increments. So the two little ones I'm guessing on really. But close enough. I take 5000 per day so Rogan gets it from my milk. Tempted to have his blood tested though because he's caught two colds already so I wonder if he needs more?

Anyway...that is the guidelines I use

We aren't to give a baby milk, berries, or peanut butter. We are to introduce new foods one at a time. But it's OK to inject several viruses, bacteria, aluminum, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, animal serum, mercury, squalene and more into an 8 week old? I don't think so.
In order to be healthy it is an unfortunate fact that people must be allowed the opportunity to be ill. I trust my body and those of my children to work correctly against the relatively benign diseases they vax for, and do not trust the ingredients in the vaccinations.
Our choice to not vax isn't based in ignorance, poverty, conspiracy theory and rumor. It's research, common sense, fact and evidence based..something the medical community has largely forgot about.

Martha I would personally give more D3 than what's in breastmilk unless you are getting a lot of sunshine. It is not readily excreted in breastmilk, even if you have high levels. My PERSONAL belief on that is that it does not excrete well BECAUSE naturally humans before now got a lot more daily sunshine than we do, so it wasn't needed through breastmilk. It acts much more like a hormone than a vitamin & we generally synthesize our own. I do 1000iu under 2, 2000 iu over 2 & then 6000iu for Dh & I. I think it's made a great improvement. I recently ran out & with the holidays I forgot a few times to pick it up even though I went to the store. We were exposed to my sick niecelet & never caught what she had for the first couple of weeks - ran out of Vi D3 & sure enough we alllll got sick. It was the FIRST time Isaac has ever been sick (he is 22 months) and Jonah's first real cold. He has had the sniffles for a day here or there, but never a real cold. Usually when Jonah gets the sniffles I do 4000iu of Vit D & start him on Sinupret & it is gone by morning, no joke. I didnít have the D3 & the Sinupret was helpful I *think* but didnít kick it out like it usually does.

We donít take D3 when we get enough sun, but as soon as Summer is over we start on it & stay on it pretty much daily until Spring. Even when we get out in Winter we are not out long enough to count.
