On weekends I volunteer to walk dogs at the kennel. Now these are dogs that have homes and the kennel makes money for the shelter. So it is a win-win. I walk about 15 dogs in a day and I love all the doggie lovin.
Just found out 2 days ago that I am 4 weeks pregnant! And it took a lot to get there. I'm 39 and we had to use IVF. Neither of us had any major problems, just age.
So my mom says to me that until I get past this next crucial stage over the next 6 weeks, that maybe I shouldn't volunteer anymore. At first I thought she was just worried about big dogs pulling me down or something. But she is worried that all the bacteria from the different dogs could somehow cause a problem with my pregnancy. Is she just being overprotective? Or could there be something to her theory?[/SIZE]
I volunteered for years with an animal rescue and we had plenty of preggo volunteers. I know you're not supposed to get near cat litter but I've never heard anything about dogs. Ask your doctor. Why should you stop doing something that gives you joy and fulfillment (which your baby senses) unless you know it's dangerous?
