So I am now 20 weeks (yeah! It has been a rough pregnancy for me). I have been seeing my doctor every two weeks due to hematoma and bed rest and have been able to at least peek each time on u/s machine--which is very reassuring.

However, when I asked him when I would get the GD test, I was told 26-28 weeks. I thought we "older" women were tested earlier? I have several women that I communicate with on another board that have been tested early--one even at 12 weeks.

Should I push for it? Or are they looking at other factors, so I shouldn't worry?

Have you been tested yet? How many weeks were you?

Thanks!!

Women are tested earlier depending on their own individual risk factors...family/personal history of diab, previous GD, etc... But 26-28w is standard. I was tested at 27w this time and right around the same last time.

26 is standard unless hx of IR; I had gd dx at 26wks with DS1 and this time they just called me gd without testing and I started treatment at 5 weeks; not sure if its age dependent or not

I think they will test me around 25 weeks or so. My next appointment is on Monday so I am sure they will mention it then.

I'm getting the 1 hour screening done tomorrow, at 27.4 weeks. The only reason I know for doing it earlier is a past history of GD in pregnancy, or a strong family history of diabetes.
