I was told by my doctor on my very first visit that she induces labor a week early in mothers my age (I'm 41).

So far all of my tests have been great, I've actually lost 7 lbs and my blood pressure is better than when I got pregnant. We even did CVS testing and the baby is gentically perfect.

I don't in anyway shape or form want to be induced unless they can prove to me that the baby is in danger, but I also don't want to risk a stillbirth, which from what I've read is probably what my doctor is afraid will happen.

Was anyone else told they would need to induce? Or has anyone else been induced?

I had my last baby at 42 and prior to that had babies at age 37, 39 & 40. I didn't get induced for any pregnancies due to my age

I also had a CVS test done

I would only induce if medically necessary or life threatening.

That is my thought exactly. I have an appointment next week and I'm going to talk to her about this. If she is set on early induction, I might have to find a different doctor. She has been over-cautious about things, which is OK, except it's all turning out to be unnecesarry.

My original bloodwork (week 9) showed my blood glucose at 6.0 and 126, so she had me start testing my blood sugar 4 times a day and see a nutritionist.....well my nutritionist is floored because I can eat ANYTHING and my blood sugar is within range.....even a 6 pack of mini powder sugar donuts! I think my doctor was just positive that I have GD because I'm about 30lbs overweight and 41. One more thing to talk to her about next week.

Did you have the medical staff treating you like you might fall apart any minute because you happen to be over 35?

LOL, nope. I'm pretty young at heart and no one treated me like a geriatric. LMAO. It would have been the last thing they did. Roaring.

I just delivered in August, and I am 38. My doctor was willing to let me go to week 42 but I delivered (via induction) at week 40 for other reasons, not age related or even medically necessary.

I just delivered my beautiful boy and did have some precautions but it was only because i elected to have a csection (due to two traumatic past deliveries) they would have let me go how and when i wanted within reason! It seems from quite a few posts that each dr varies in everything no matter age so if ur not happy definitely find a doc who is reasonably on the same page as u! Good luck.
