Hi, I'm Cindy. I'm due November 24 w/ our 8th child. I'll be 36 when s/he is born. I also have gestational diabetes. How can I expect this pregnancy to differ from my others? Is an amnio automaticly recommended because of my age? What other tests will be offered? Thanks for any info anyone has!
Sorry, I can't help with the GD. But as for the rest the pregnancy, there is no reason why it should be any different.
I'm 41, this is my fourth baby. The only thing really different for me is I am feeling a lot more than I did with my others... a lot more aches and pains. But I have arthritis and fibromyalgia this go around, where as I didn't with my other three.
Yes, your Dr will offer you genetic testing to see if baby has Down's syndrome and other chromonal things, as older Moms have a SLIGHTLY higher chance of getting them. This is something you really have to look into though, and decide if YOU want to take the tests or not. They are NOT mandatory! You need to read about the risks involved. And weigh the issues with your Dh.
