I am new here, 36 and PG with #3. Though I am at 20 wks now, and going for my U/S on Friday, I was wondering if you could tell me if this scan at 8 wks is a twin or single? I am confused, so many telling me twins, but when they did the scan they didn't say one way or the other. But now that I look at the picture and look at others, it looks like it could be.

What do you think?? thanks

I am not good at interpreting sonos...but I see what you mean. You are questioning the shadow in the upper left, correct? Good grief, if you are carrying twins the sono tech should be fired for not telling you or even worse not realizing there are two! You would think the doc would have heard two heartbeats and your measurements would be off if it were twins, so I am guessing singleton. Maybe that is your ovary??? But I have never carried twins so that is just an educated guess. This board is a bit quiet at times. Have you tried posting on the mom's of multiples board or the DDC when you are due? They would probably have some good insight.Sorry I am not much help, but please update us when you find out for sure...I am very curious to see the outcome! Good luck!

yes up to the left is what I am talking about. Thing is I have not been measured yet, I have my 20 wk appt next Wednesday, I am sure I will be measured there. I have US this Friday, so we shall see.

I am not "wishing" per say to have twins, it just seems weird looking at that picture and listening to everyone around me, ya know. Not that I am relying on them or anything lol. I thought I would be bigger then I am now, but I am also a heavier person to begin with. Well I will keep you updated. thanks for the reply.

You are welcome How exciting! Well, just to throw it out there...I had a friend who had twins and you never would have guessed it until way later in her pregnancy...she was a little bit of a thing too! Can't wait to hear the update after your appt. GOOD LUCK!

One of my friends have twins a year ago. She and the dr. didn't know until she had her U/S at 20 weeks. One was hiding behind the other and they could only hear one heartbeat and the OB didn't look for another since her first U/S only showed 1. So, you never know!

Well there is only one healthy baby. Unless of course the other is still hiding, but I am sure that is highly unlikely at this stage in the game lol. HB of 151, all parts, bones etc... in the right spot. Will post a pic tomorrow

I would say singleton unless they are identical. I only see one sac. I had some "shadows" in my early ones this pregnancy and they told me that they thought they were fibroid tumors. But, I'm no professional so who knows. Keep us posted though.
