We had the big level 2 ultrasound apppointment. First and
foremost, the little one is looking good in all areas - the doctor
was very happy with what he saw. There was a strong heartbeat, the
brain looked very good and everything is in order. We are happy and
relieved!! I'm glad I didn't do the quad test which could have caused undue emotional stress for me.

The doc said that the triple and quad screening is so misunderstood and that is why people get all
stressed over it. Those tests are simply a measurement of risk of having a downs baby, not a measurement
of downs in the baby in itself.

And the doctor also announced...we are having a precious little
girl! For a moment I admit I had to stop and breathe in with a
little goodbye to the thought of having that little boy, a son that
I will likely never have. But I know how wonderful girls are. I
have two! It did take some time for me to get used to the idea
because for some reason, I really thought we were having a boy.

DH was quiet for a moment too. But when I asked him if he was
disappointed he said he honestly wasn't disappointed. He said he was very happy
and very psyched that his little doll is looking healthy and he was
amazed by the ultrasound (his first one). He was especially
intrigued by the brain areas since he does brain research for work.

The girls were with us too and they really enjoyed it. I think they
were also amazed at seeing their tiny little sister for the very
first time.

We have these beautiful pics of her little foot and her little
profile with a tiny nose. She is so darling already. The most
important thing is that our little girl is healthy and doing well so
far!

Congradulations Julia,
How precious your having another little girl How funny you thought your lil baby was a boy, I would have placed a big bet that I was carrying a girl....... but I am actually having a boy. My daughters are almost the same age as yours. They were excited too when they saw their little brother on the u/s. Are you having your girls in the delivery room with you?

Congrats! I'm glad baby's doing well and that her sisters got to see her. Doc, DH, and DS were all convinced we were having a girl. Nope, it's another boy. Your pics sound precious!

NO WAY! I could NOT have them there when delivering. I think that would be too much for them to see. I don't want them to be scared of childbirth.
