GS: gestational surrogate
Surrogate normally takes medication, sees a clinic and uses the IP's method for the baby, meaning either the IM's egg and IF's sperm or a donor for either. The embryo is created and then placed inside the surrogate

TS: traditional surrogate
Surrogate uses her own egg with the IF's sperm. This can be done via home insems or with a clinic doing an IUI

The biggest difference is that the TS is biologically related to the child being created. The GS has no bio links to the child.
