IVF surrogacy (gestational carrier) - full surrogate
This is where a woman carries a pregnancy created by the egg and sperm of genetic couple. The carrier is not genetically related to the child.
Natural surrogacy (traditional/straight surrogate)
Here, the surrogate is inseminated with sperm from the male partner’s of an infertile couple. The child that results is genetically related to the surrogate and to the male partner but not to the commissioning female partner.
To whom surrogacy is advised? There are several groups of patients that natural and IVF surrogacy may be advised to.

???? Where are these terms coming from? I have been involved with surrogacy for 6 years and these terms are not used.

the correct terms are-

Gestational Surrogate or Gestational Carrier- The child is created by sperm and egg not genetically related to her. The child can be created by either the intended parents or sperm/egg donors. IVF is preformed to create the embryos and transfer them into the surrogate.

Traditional Surrogate- The child is created with the surrogates own egg. The sperm may or may not be genetically related to the intended parents. This can be done through IVF, IUI or home insems.

Straight? Full? Not terms that have any meaning in surrogacy.......

I also have to agree! Thank you for speaking up!!!

I've read this board in the past and cringe at some of the things I see posted - especially when the advice and information is not correct. It's a shame for new members to come here and read something like that and make an already overwhelming process even more confusing.

That's what I was thinking because I know she isn't surrogate BUT it seems too likely she is the one coming up with actual spellings like "Tranditional".

ETA- OMGoodness she just changed her siggy that she is TTC a baby girl for herself now. While I am fully aware she is a scam in surrogacy she sure flipped fast once it was pointed out. At the same time, I am glad no one will actually get hurt by her misinformation now that she is no longer claiming to be a surrogate.

I think she needs to remove herself as a Mod,if you don't know what your Talking about you may be giving the wrong advie to Newbies.I've been in the Surro world for 6yrs and have 2 surro babys & one on the way.If I ask a Mod something I would think she's also been around the Block and knows her way around the Surrogate world,Not Fishing Off the Internet for stuff.

I wondered why she was all of a sudden trying to conceive on her own. What happened to the couple she had on her siggy?

I also am glad someone said something. I wanted to, but at the time wasn't sure if my feeling was valid. I wish I would have said something. I know she copied and pasted the info, you can tell.

I'm not online much with a 3 year old, and I've got enough handle before even knowing if my family is complete.
I looked around the various forums and saw the one for surrogacy here on JM.
It might be something that interest me down the road, so this board
seems to be a good place to get basic information.
The original poster appears to be matched through an agency.
I wish them, and the new parents, the best.
