Now mind you I'm not obese or anything like that but I'm not what they would consider in the BMI world as a "normal" weight person. I've really been considering becoming a surrogate or an egg donor but all of the places I've looked at say I'm overweight and can't do it. This has definitely put in motivation for me to lose weight, but I just wonder if anyone else has had this experience.

I guess according to most RE's I am probably overweight. I don't have any health issues and the RE we used, didn't have an issue with my weight. When we first started, I probably weighed in at 225, but have since dropped down to 210 since we first signed contracts. I am currently 11 weeks preggo with twins!

That definitely gives me hope! I'm in the same weight area as you.

I have no advice on this one. I know most RE's and agencies want a certain BMI, but it varies. I've heard of people having unsuccessful transfers and being told to come back when they got under a certain BMI. Not sure exactly how it correlates with the IVF, but I'm not the expert.

I've heard if you go indy you can find a couple more open to a higher BMI.

Yeah I was thinking of maybe going indy but not sure just yet. I think over the next few months I would like to try to lose some weight then maybe go back into looking at it further.

Yes, my BMI was higher than what the fertility clinic felt was acceptable. However, the intended parents talked to them and they approved me as a surrogate.

I think the best option is to continue trying to be healthy and lose weight. That will show them you are heading in the right direction. Our RE had no issues with my weight whatsoever. And neither did my agency.
