Hi! I was recently asked by a friend to be a surrogate for her and her DH. She has 3 older children and has had a hysterectomy and he has no children. Ultimately, we could do IVF using her eggs at a cost of $20,000 but she isn't concerned about the child being hers biologically, so we have decided to use my eggs.

Have any of you ever been a traditional surrogate? Any advice?

I as a traditional surrogate back in 2007. I was in almost the same case as you-- my IM had no uterus, and had already had three children. It was her dream to have four.

He is now a healthy four year old little boy!!!!!!!!!!

TS is an amazing gift to offer. And it takes a special person to do it. Because the baby is yours biologically, it will look like you, have your features and even have some of your traits. Some people have issues with having another child out in the world that they don't get to raise and that is related to their own children.

But if it is something that you truly feel you are able to do, I say go for it! GS pregnancies are expensive in most cases, between all of the cycling and clinic fees. Some result in multiple pregnancies which then are more risky and can cost a fortune as well. My TS journey was simple. We did use a dr and the clinic to do the IUI, but that was only 500 bucks. There are other ways to do it obviously, home insems and such..and that will knock your costs down as well.

I can't wait to follow your journey and welcome you to our group!!! Feel free to ask away if you have any more questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!
