Hi ladies, I was just wanting to get some information on how to become a surrogate. What are some things to expect? Do you get to decide where you want to give birth? Like say I want to home birth is that ok or is it up to the parents? How do you emotionally get through it? I would love to give a couple the opportunity to become parents but I'm struggling with becoming too attached and having a hard time once the baby is gone.

Welcome Denise! Right now I'm waiting to do ivf with my ip's but I'll try to answer what I can. I think if the couple you work with is fine with a home birth you should be able to. I know for me I can choose where I want to give birth. Depending on how you go about finding a couple expect it to be awhile before starting the process. If you work with an agency (which is a super safe way since they make sure you are covered) they are going to go over a lot with you. Since I haven't gotten pregnant yet I can't give any advice on how to deal with giving the baby up. In my situation I fully know this baby is of no relation and will look nothing like me which is going to make it easier. I am in no way mom. I wish you the best of luck if you decide to do it. I know there are some ladies in here who are or have completed the process so they'll have great knowledge too.

I know this is an old post, but I thought I would respond anyways. I am also just starting the IVF portion of my journey so I can't answer how to handle after the baby is born, but like the response above, I know this baby is of no way related to me and I'm actually really looking forward to being able to give my IPs their baby.

I am currently working with Worldwide Surrogacy as my agency. I have heard of Circle Surrogacy as well.

I suggest doing TONS of research. I mulled over the idea of becoming a surrogate for a long time, not so much because of the lack of desire, but just wanting to make sure I did everything right. In some states it's still illegal. Another place I would go for more information on surrogacy is allaboutsurrogacy.com the ladies over there are really helpful.
