Hi ladies,

I have recently started taking Clomid, I am on CD 5 today. I went for my first blood work yesterday morning. My doctor never really explained what the blood work is for. If anyone can explain this to me it would be greatly appreciated! Also, do all women using Clomid get an ultra sound to check out the eggs that have been made? My doctor hasn't said anything about this.

Not everyone gets monitored via ultrasound - most of the time, only if you're seeing an RE will you get monitored.

The blood work is to make sure your hormones are at the right levels so that you ovulate - they check for FSH, LH and estradiol (estrogen). THese have to be in certain proportions to one another for your body to create and release an egg.
