Well, I'm not a doctor, so take this for what it is worth, but I do NOT recommend taking Clomid while unsupervised by a doctor. If you aren't healthy enough for a pregnancy, your doctors were correct not to prescribe you fertility medications.

Women on Clomid are monitored because Ovarian Hyperstimulation can be fatal for women if it is not caught early enough. You are risking your life, as well as permanent damage to your reproductive system, by doing this on your own.

Monitoring is really the only way to know if a particular dose of Comid is even working...and a woman should always take the minimum dose necessary to achieve ovulation. Clomid can make the uterine lining too thin, which could result in a lost pregnancy because the embryo cannot implant. Women being monitored can be given supplements to help the lining thicken, but you'll never know if this is an issue or not. Clomid can also cause cysts to develop, and that can be dangerous if not properly treated.

To answer your question, yes, you would probably be in severe pain if you hyperstimulate. It is possible, though, that by the time you get medical attention, you will have already damaged your ovaries.

Sorry to be blunt, but you need to find a new plan. If weight is the issue, we have a weight-loss support section on JM that you might visit. There are other women in the same situation, and they are getting healthy so that they can get pregnant and be wonderful mothers for their children.

I sincerely hope that you achieve your dream of being a mummy, but I hope you do it the healthy, safe way. Good luck!
